New Moonlight Motel Comic!

Monty's back, folks! This strip kicks off the official grand re-opening of the Moonlight Motel webcomic site, MoonlightMotelComic.com! Thanks so much to my friend, Jakki, of  http://tistheseasons.blogspot.com/ for helping me immeasurably in redoing the site and saving a lot of money in the process! If you love holidays, you'll wanna check out her website too! Now, here's our newest. Just a little something soft and sweet to start things off...

  1. Really love this strip! Sometimes less is more and Monty's sweet face says it all. Of course I can't help but think of the Glum Pumpkin in Raggedy Ann & Andy The Pumpkin Who Couldn't Smile. Nice work!

  2. Thanks, Jakki. I admit, I looked at this one a lot and wondered, "Is this too sappy?" But, I like for Moonlight Motel to have two sides, an edgy side (well, what was once edgy, ha) and a sappy side that reminds me of old comics I am nostalgic for. I especially like the holiday stuff to be on the sappy side, ha. Reminds me of the old holiday specials like the Peanuts and Garfield ones. I notice I've been drawing Monty waaaay cuter these days though. It's amazing how characters evolve. I may want to pull back on that a bit though, and get back to how he looked a few strips ago. It's probably because I started doing that "Li'l Monty" stuff, ha.

  3. Well, his face and expression were perfect here. I didn't mean "sweet" to seem like an insult to the character, but I really liked the feeling that came out of it, which is effective. I'm sure it won't be the same in the next strip, but for this one it worked. :)

    1. Oh, no, ha, I wasn't relating that to your comment. Just my own observation of how I've drawn him in the last two strips.
